As an FLP teacher, you will have a direct contact with a volunteer on the Steering Committee. We will work with you via email and phone and you will also receive teacher-specific emails from the Steering Committee as a whole. Please ensure you add firstname.lastname@example.org to your “safe senders” list. You can expect regular communication during session planning times and in the weeks leading up to the start of a new session. Prompt replies are appreciated as committee members are often working under tight deadlines.
Outside of classroom time, your method of sharing information with students and parents is via the FLP Google Group. As a new teacher you should have received an invitation to join; if not, please join here. The FLP Google Group provides a direct link to your students/parents. Please use the group to post announcements regarding canceled classes, homework, upcoming classroom activities, etc. Likewise, students/parents may post questions regarding your class as well. Per the policy of the Google group, please limit postings to FLP business only. If you wish to post an announcement regarding an event or outside class you are holding, contact your Steering Committee liaison first.
FLP has one dedicated Parks & Rec staff person to assist with our program needs, ensure teachers have supplies and space, and that families and students receive the service necessary during program days. Chris Jones will be at the Front Desk of Southwest Teen Life Center on FLP days and he is your contact for hiring, payroll, supplies, and in-class disciplinary situations. He can be reached at 206-684-7438 or email@example.com.
Due to the unique nature of our program, there are many moving parts. Teachers should use the guidelines below in contacting the appropriate party in each situation. The Steering Committee members are also available to direct you if you are unsure.
