Welcome to the Family Learning Program (FLP)! We are thrilled that you will be teaching for our program and hope that the experience is positive for you. The following information is provided to assist you in navigating the policies and procedures of working with us. Please review it carefully and contact the Steering Committee with any questions.
As a teacher for our program, you are a vital and cherished part of the FLP community! We think you will find interested students, engaged parents and families, and a true joy for learning in our halls. Teachers are welcome to join every community event and committee volunteers are onsite should you need our support.
Teachers for the Family Learning Program are employed by Seattle Parks & Recreation and/or the Associated Recreation Council. Seattle Parks & Recreation administers the FLP classes with scheduling, planning and organization completed by the parent-volunteer Steering Committee. Once you meet with an FLP volunteer, you will be referred to Chris Jones at Parks & Rec for hiring. Chris will be your contact person at Southwest Teen Life Center for timesheets, budgets, supplies, and classroom equipment needs. Hiring and new employee orientation will be conducted by Seattle Parks & Rec and Associated Recreation Council. Please ensure you respond to their inquiries in a timely manner.
