class description

Bring your imagination and a willingness to write in class! I’ll teach the basic building blocks of writing fantasy and students will spend a chunk of time in each class writing. We’ll read a fantasy novel outside of class and discuss it in class. We’ll workshop our classmates’ writing homework, and we’ll make a collection of our edited short stories as a final project. We’ll have lots of fun while we talk about what makes for good fantasy writing and reading.

Required Skills for Students to Be Successful in This Class:

Compliance with Family Rights & Responsibilities. An interest in reading and writing, an ability to write in class and a willingness to edit their classmates work.


Students will be expected to try to write for 15 minutes a day, and write a short story and edit that story within the quarter. We will also read a book at home and talk about it in class (book will be provided).
